Blocks introduces Builderlab to bring ideas and execution together

Intelligence company Block has introduced Builderlab, an enterprise intelligence toolkit built atop Buzz, the company’s open-source workspace where conversations, code and agent activity live.

The thinking behind the toolkit was that in building software, discussion has been separated from execution, according to the company’s announcement. The ideas are developed in one tool, the project is built in another and context is shared. Builderlab helps organizations move past the need for individual AI tools by creating its team collaboration and project management platform.

In its blog announcement, the company wrote that “Buzz is designed to work with the technology organizations already use, bringing their people and agents into a shared workspace. Organizations can use their own models and agent frameworks, connect the tools their agents need, and choose where to host the apps they build. Builderlab provides managed capabilities out of the box, so organizations can use their existing setup, Builderlab services, or a combination of both.”

Builderlab brings managed capabilities to Buzz, such as connecting agents to tools, or running them in the cloud, or giving them access to models, and managing identities and permissions. Organizations, Block said, can connect agents to their systems, establish access boundaries, run work beyond a laptop, and choose models suited to different tasks.

“We believe access to intelligence will become standard, and what will distinguish companies is how they organize around it,” said Brad Axen, Head of AI Capabilities at Block. “Giving everyone an agent can make individuals faster, while leaving the company’s bottlenecks intact. For organizations, Builderlab brings the opportunity to assemble the expertise a problem needs and act on it together, rather than make every idea travel through the same handoffs and queues, only faster.”

Buzz is available at buzz.xyz for anyone who wants to start building.
