Blitzy Announces Collaboration with Microsoft to Accelerate Legacy Modernization and Software Development at Scale
Blitzy, an autonomous software development platform built for enterprise codebases, announced it will work with Microsoft Frontier Company to develop and deliver solutions aimed at helping enterprises understand, modernize, and continuously evolve software across large, interconnected application estates.
As part of the collaboration, Blitzy will also integrate Microsoft Foundry, multiple Azure infrastructure services, and GitHub Copilot into its platform.
Microsoft Frontier Company is a newly formed operating business centered on delivering what the companies describe as Frontier Transformation through AI. Under the partnership, Blitzy will collaborate with industry and engineering specialists to build, deliver, and refine AI solutions aimed at specific business outcomes.
The partnership targets a persistent gap in enterprise AI adoption: many organizations have tested agentic AI through pilots but have struggled to put it into production, particularly on older, sprawling systems that are poorly documented and difficult to change or modernize.
Blitzy’s approach involves reverse engineering entire application ecosystems to build a system-wide understanding of them. From there, using a specification approved by a human reviewer, the platform provisions large numbers of specialized agents, sometimes thousands, to carry out development work based on that understanding. Blitzy says each agent operates within its own effective context window, which the company states reduces entropy and improves output quality, and that validation happens alongside code generation rather than only after it’s complete.
“Enterprises shouldn’t have to leave decades of software behind to embrace an agentic future,” said Brian Elliott, co-founder and CEO at Blitzy. “Our collaboration with Microsoft extends the Agentic Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) across the entire software estate. Blitzy turns complex, undocumented legacy systems into software teams can understand and modernize, while GitHub Copilot and Azure give engineers the tools and platform to carry that work forward. Together, we can help enterprises modernize more of what they have and move faster on what comes next.”
